BUT THE DECENTRALIZATION, they said
@Loosf It never has been and never will be decentralized; I swear people just do not want to accept that reality. LMAO
@Arthfach but somehow atproto will fix the internet
somehow blusky decentralization is "doing it right" but like masto actually being decentralized and easy to spin up does not count
weird huh
@Loosf That (AP/Mastodon being easy to spin up) was something I actually got into a bit with someone over on Bluesky on my now deleted personal account.
I was making the argument in a thread that I started, unrelated to anything, that AT Proto suffered mainly from being so complex to spin up and that ActivityPub had a strong advantage in that you could have something like, say, GoToSocial that was fully featured and yet lightweight and easy to deploy whereas AT Proto stuff is complicated, expensive, and requires the use of things like Docker containers so it's inherently unstable.
Well, in came that person to scold me about "not contributing to AT Proto," and trying to guilt me because they "wanted to stay mutuals but couldn't if I was going to keep attacking the protocol," as well as scolding me for promoting ActivityPub doing something right. They just did not want to hear AT ALL that AT Proto / Bluesky had flaws or places that it could improve.
It honestly does feel like a cult that supports it. If you dare to criticize or even simply point out that their claims don't match current reality, they threaten you with shunning and try to use guilt on you so you'll shut up. Very much like cult tactics; it unnerves me a LOT.
@Arthfach their protocol is bad and they should feel bad imo
@Loosf truly amazing how quick "you're in control! if you don't like hoe moderation is handled you can just pick a new instance! or start your own!" turned into "fuck you fuck you FUCK YOU FUCK YOOOOOU"
@amagire@mastodon.social @Loosf@yiff.life
"We have user-led and composable moderation!"
*The users moderate the mods' annoying favorites*
"Wait, not like that"
"That's illegal"
@amagire "if you block our moderation bot or criticize our devs and mods YOU ARE GETTING STRIKES, BUSTER"
