I did my daily gig at the Picardo Family Farm community gardens this morning. Seattle's system of community gardens is called the P-Patch system, because the Picardo family gave part of their farm for this purpose in 1973 and started the community gardens; this is how their name is memorialized. Here are a few photos of the P-Patch on a cloudy morning. Some of the gardeners have been here for decades, and they have built little beds with stones and bricks. I think there are more flowers than vegetables, but I managed to get a shot that looks very vegetarian. There are little alcoves and sitting areas around the edges, and umbrellas and tables scattered around in the bedding area.

I'll take some pix of my area soonish, when I figure out why my beans have turned yellow and my seedlings aren't getting second leaves (need more N?). The soil in my elevated bed was donated by a local nursery; who knows what the mix is. Soil test coming up!
