The 25th Annual African American Cultural Celebration Returns to Raleigh

Celebrate Black History Month in Raleigh with one of North Carolina’s most meaningful cultural traditions. The 25th Annual African American Cultural Celebration (AACC) returns on Saturday, February 28, 2026, bringing together artists, scholars, performers, and community organizations for a full day of education, inspiration, and celebration.

For 25 years, the AACC has served as a powerful platform to highlight the past, present, and future contributions of African Americans to North Carolina’s history and culture—and this milestone year promises to be especially impactful.

What to Expect

Hosted with support from the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission, the African American Cultural Celebration officially kicks off Black History Month with:

Engaging cultural demonstrations Inspiring presentations and discussions Live music and stage performances Artists, authors, filmmakers, and scholars Community organizations and educational resources

Each year, thousands of attendees experience a shared celebration centered around a unifying theme that honors African American excellence, resilience, creativity, and leadership across North Carolina.

Important Location Update for 2026

While the North Carolina Museum of History remains closed for renovations, the 2026 in-person festival will be held at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA).

Activities will take place inside the East Building and outdoors on Gipson Plaza Parking is available in all three main NCMA parking lots The venue provides a spacious and accessible setting for performances and family-friendly activities

The African American Cultural Celebration continues to be a cornerstone event for Raleigh and the Triangle, strengthening community ties while uplifting voices, stories, and traditions that shape our state.
