Yes I know in the very end Valhalla goes up in flames too, but if Mastodon ends up following the arc of the Ring Cycle it's going to take a long fucking time until we get there. Also there will be lots of magic and dragons and stuff along the way, so what's not to like?

(The first one to reply "antisemitism" is going to get a long thread in their inbox about how there's no evidence or agreed-upon theory about any antisemitic subtext in Wagner's operas, as opposed to some of his essays and personal correspondence which do contain heinous stuff.)
*I'll still be keeping an eye on things there until it completely collapses, but I've switched off my crossposter and will probably limit myself to replying to people and gently helping them towards the exit.
