@bokane Right, and I'm sure I know less still, with my Mandarin being pretty dire even after years of trying. But you only need to read to the second paragraph of his Wikipedia page to see the absurdity of this "Jiang Zemin tribute" idea.
@brecht I mean, who knows; nobody has predicted anything correctly so far, so I’m leery of leaning too hard into my immediate response of “lol no.” It’s not an *entirely* crazy idea: people *might* decide to use Jiang’s death as a pretext, and I suppose it’s *technically* possible that the government somehow forgot all about 1989 (and 1976, probably more to the point) — but if anybody is betting money on this, I would love to get in on that action.
