"people think transitioning is a gradual gradient, that if you wait long enough the person transitioning becomes someone else. it isn't all like that. a ton of it is piecemeal. it's bit by bit, manually grabbed, big and small, heavy and light. it's accepting that thing you always did as okay. it's deciding to shave and how and where and how often. it's becoming okay with getting old. it's doing that thing you always wanted to do (wearing rave pants and a sports bra to the club in the summer was that for me.) it's learning rules and being there for people in big and small ways. it's realizing you're alive one day. it's deciding, piece by piece, to transition, to grab that forbidden fruit and take bite after bite after bite on purpose for your own wellbeing. it's loving yourself. it's healing, physically and mentally and doing it on purpose. being told it's wrong. knowing it's right."
