Is this legit or is this Shenanigans? I will pay for Nova Launcher but only if this goes to ongoing development and isn't someone having stole the Play keys. I know the original dev was in a copyright fight with a previous employer.

F*ck it... I hated to reconfigure my stuff on lawnchair and stopped after 20 minutes trying to but I think there is no alternative now....

@mcc i immediately pulled down settings and reverted to the stock launcher. Then i installed Lawnchair and started using that instead.
Personally, I dumped Nova Launcher as soon as I learned it was purchased...
Sucks. Cause it was my favorite for many years.
But I simply refuse to be a "customer" of Big Tech.

The announcement states that #Nova Launcher has been purchased by a new owner. In theory, development should now be resumed. In practice, whether or not the change is going to work out remains to be seen. However, it does at least seem to be a genuine change.
For what it's worth, I'm testing the Lawnchair #Launcher as an alternative. Lawnchair isn't a full Nova Launcher clone, but I like it so far and it's FOSS. So, the software is both free and unlikely to disappear. The link for Lawnchair is:

@mcc it was acquired by an ad company and now it has analytics bundled in (facebook's and google's for sure, probably others), and it's locked in behind payment. Tbh I fled Nova when it was acquired and it's only enshittified since.
