Still just thinking about Mass Effect, because each of the three games are absolutely terrible in rather different ways, and yet each are really just some of my favorite games ever for rather different reasons
@nytpu all masterpieces are flawed in some way or another

@nytpu we have never effected a mass though so i can't speak to those in particular

@Hearth You started following me after my like two month saga of spending every weekend incessantly liveposting replaying the games XD. I guess this is a summary of my thoughts: https://tilde.zone/@nytpu/115986528408071849
@nytpu this reminds us of how we were with the last remnant
that game's worldbuilding is great! its story is mediocre at best. its protagonist is the single most annoying and unpleasant person we have ever had the displeasure of playing as

@Hearth Hmm, Mass Effect is a bit weird because each game is rather different so I like completely different things about them. ME1 has excellent world building and a solid main story, but most of the gameplay is so horrible (the Legendary Edition remaster really improved it at least). ME2 and especially ME3 really improved the gameplay (ME2 level design is really bad but the gameplay overall is less miserable); but they both completely tanked the story. ME3 completely tanked 95% the worldbuilding (the two writers that did all the excellent story and worldbuilding left BioWare, so the really superficial lead writer took over worldbuilding). But ME2 and ME3 have such good characterization of the main squad that was very absent in ME1… it's very hard for me to formulate my exact feelings on the series
