A shady stretch of riverbank on a July afternoon, Mill River, Sleeping Giant State Park, Hamden, Connecticut. July 18, 2024, 2:16 PM.

#hiking #photography #outdoors #landscapephotography #nature #Connecticut #summer #forest #river #summertime

A cluster of gray boulders beside the bank of a slow-moving stretch of river. Except for our rocky patch, both banks are heavily wooded, with tall trees leaning out over the water and interlacing above, creating a shady tunnel. The strong July sun is creating patterns of bright sunshine and cool shadows on the trees and the very slightly rippled waters. Some algae in the river is creating a light beige tone on the river surface where the sun breaks through to touch it. The blue sky, scattered clouds and forest canopy above are all mirrored on the water.
