Ein Mann geht den schmalen, nächtlichen Straßen einer Stadt entlang. Die Gehwegoberfläche ist nass, und Pfützen spiegeln die umgebenden Gebäude und Straßenlaternen wider. Diese reflektierenden Elemente verstärken die düstere, melancholische Atmosphäre, während schwaches Licht durch den Dunst schimmert. Nächtliche Szene am Canal Grande in Venedig. Im Vordergrund sind mehrere schwarze Gondeln vertäut, die mit leuchtend blauen Planen abgedeckt sind. Die Boote liegen eng nebeneinander an Holzpfählen im dunkelgrün schimmernden Wasser. Ein schmaler Holzsteg führt mittig in das Bild hinein. Im Hintergrund erstreckt sich die beleuchtete Häuserfront historischer Palazzi, deren Fassaden sich im Wasser spiegeln. Die Fenster und Arkaden der Gebäude werfen ein warmes, goldenes Licht auf die Szenerie, während der Nachthimmel vollkommen schwarz ist. Ein Vaporetto (Wasserbus) passiert die Häuserzeile in der Bildmitte.

A photograph shot from a bridge overlooking a small canal. Numerous multi-story buildings with ample windows stretch down each side of the water way. There are plants growing in flower boxes in some of the windows. The buildings are shades of brown and grey. The water in the canal is calm and green. There are three gondolas moored to the buildings. The sky can be seen above the buildings; it is clear and light blue. Such a beautiful city. I can't wait to visit again.
