A black and white photograph featuring the historic Macquarie Harbour Lighthouse (also known as Bonnet Island Lighthouse) in Tasmania.

The white, circular lighthouse sits atop a jagged rock formation surrounded by dark water. It is encased in dark metal scaffolding, indicating restoration work.

The sky is filled with dramatic, heavy grey clouds, and a faint mountain range is visible on the distant horizon.

In the bottom right corner, there is a watermark of the Australian continent containing the text "Kev Peirce Photography".

Today, in inhospitable #weather and after a sleepless night for me, walking was minimal. We did drive out to the lovely country near #Tillamook and put our feet on the ground for a few steps at Cape Lookout and Cape Meares, where a sleeping #lighthouse stands, supposedly one of only two in the world that are eight-sided. Big waves, and every breath had sea spray in it. #Oregon #Travel #Monday #GetOutOfTheHouse #OregonCoast

The top of the little lighthouse at Cape Meares with its red-paneled, complex, eight-sided lens in its glass-enclosed shelter, the graceful, sloping roof, and an evergreen tree waving and clamoring to be in the picture.

Looking south at Cape Lookout. It's high tide! Grand waves rolling all over the beach, some fog that never lifted, a grey sky behind it, and tall trees patiently waiting for what comes next.

Cape Disappointment. Washington.

#photography #landscapephotography #lighthouse #coast #washington

A white and black striped lighthouse and a small building stand on top of an imposing headland overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Named Cape Disappointment because the first documentation of it by an early Spanish explorer thought it bordered a bay and not the mouth of the Columbia River. It was the first I saw the ocean on this trip, and I was mighty disappointed that the sea was calm and not producing the large waves I was hoping for.

Nimbostratus clouds over Happisburgh Lighthouse, Norwich, UK.

#Clouds #Lighthouse #Happisburgh #Norwich #Photography

A sky filled with dark nimbostratus clouds over a red-and-white-striped lighthouse. Two (keepers’) cottages stand on either side of the structure, and a cement WWII "pillbox" defence bunker is just to the left. On the horizon, two people walk through a field towards the tower. Built in 1790, the Happisburgh Lighthouse was saved as a working light by volunteers from the local community. Happisburgh, Norwich, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke, July 2020.
