The striking, Fosters & Partners designed Glasshouse on the banks of the Tyne https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/55069330050/in/photostream/lightbox/

Quayside 02

The striking Glasshouse on the Gateshead side of the Tyne, designed by the famous Foster and Partners. This striking glass and steel curving exterior actually houses three performance spaces of varying sizes, each effectively their own building within that shell, isolated from one another to avoid acoustic or vibrational overbleed. I took several pics of this modern addition to the riverside, including some as it got darker later. For some weird reason my then-new camera just kept messing up (or maybe I was - I was still getting used to it at this point) when I was shooting this building, and these two were about the only halfway presentable pics to come out, which was annoying

The iconic Tyne Bridge, with the handsome, Victorian Swing Bridge (still driven by its original mechanisms! Victorians built to last), and the High Level Bridge https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/55069218524/in/photostream/lightbox/

Gateshead Millennium Bridge, its arch echoing the iconic Tyne Bridge further along the river, at #BlueHour https://www.flickr.com/photos/woolamaloo_gazette/55069160628/in/photostream/lightbox/

The remarkable Glasshouse is visible on the left.

Quayside 08

After a long afternoon walking around the city taking a lot of pics, I made my way down to the Quayside area. I took a photo of the elegant, modern arch design The Gateshead Millenium Bridge, with the much older and iconic arch of the Tyne Bridge visible behind it. In photo #1 it was late afternoon, and after some snaps I finally went into a nearby bar for a rest, food and drink. When I came out, dusk was falling rapidly, so I took another shot (photo #8 here) from roughly the same spot, with the two bridges again, but this time the dusk light giving added reflections in the waters.
