I don't have a problem with HDMI out glasses... that's just another display device.
I do have a problem with glasses which also incorporate a camera, a microphone, and also upload all that shit to a datacenter somewhere

@cwebber I'm fine with the camera and microphone (because I could get someone to describe what I'm looking at but can't see).
you lost me at the "uploading to a datacenter" part, fuck that, nope, nope, you upload to my hardware or you don't upload at all. :)
@acidiclight In general I think the right thing is to have indicators that show that recording is happening. The ideal version is a physical shutter you can see as open or closed for the camera. But sadly this isn't going to be how this stuff rolls out.
@acidiclight Of course "you can see", admittedly, means that sighted people can see. It's not perfect there either. But increasing indicators of clear broadcasting of what's happening and what may need to be consented to, I think, is good

@cwebber and if a blind entity is using those glasses for accessibility stuff?
@freya @cwebber I think especially in that case it should always be possible for the user to choose where to upload data to though. Both for privacy reasons (you can choose a provider you trust, or run your own if you're able to) and so your glasses don't stop working when the manufacturer decides to stop supporting them
@freya Yeah that's a different situation!
