The Story Behind This Image

Some moments are worth the effort. This was one of them.

My wife and I woke up long before dawn, the chill of the morning air nipping at our skin. We hiked in the dark, the only light coming from our headlamps, our hearts racing with excitement—and a little bit of nerves—hoping that there were no bears lurking nearby. With every step, we felt the silence of the forest surrounding us, broken only by the occasional rustle in the trees.

We finally reached the summit of Oberg Mountain just as the first light of day began to paint the sky. And then, like magic, the world around us exploded in color. The North Shore was ablaze—fiery reds, brilliant oranges, warm yellows—all stretched out before us as the light gently touched every peak and valley. It was a moment of pure beauty, the kind of light photographers dream of.

But what made it even more powerful was the sense of awe we both shared in that moment. We didn’t just see the beauty of nature—we felt it. We knew, deep in our hearts, that we were witnessing the glory of God’s creation.
