Zum #Schiffssamstag heute ein älteres Foto aus Kaliningrad, dem früheren Königsberg in Ostpreußen. Es zeigt ein Denkmal vor dem alten Dom: ein Torpedoboot der Roten Armee aus dem 2. Weltkrieg.

Derzeit sind Reisen in den Oblast Kaliningrad nicht empfehlenswert ... 🤔

Okay #ImmigrationJudges are different. Unfortunately.

Immigration judges act as representatives of the #USAG & can only act acc/to authority delegated by the AG or by the #Immigration & Nationality Act (#INA). They are not part of the judicial branch of govt, but are quasi-judicials, formerly known as “special inquiry officers”.

Still, I don’t know how you can have #MILITARY lawyers in the role.

The #DOJ may now designate “any lawyer” as a temporary immigration judge for 6 months — a period that can be renewed indefinitely. The #Trump admin claimed that the change promoted increased “flexibility,” while rejecting critics who raised doubts about whether it would increase the risk of biased judges.
