Snow-covered trees lit by the sun in the foreground of this image from the Look Rock Observation Tower in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The mixture of sun and clouds has created interesting patterns of light and shadow on the mountain slopes behind the trees, almost as if some form of precipitation was falling despite the predominantly blue sky overhead. Some of the slopes have snow and some of the higher peaks, especially those in the distance, appear to be masked by passing clouds. The blue sky, which fills the upper half of the image, has an assortment of white and silver-grey clouds

An image of one of the five photo monitoring sites in Point Reyes National Seashore, set up after the Woodward Fire of 2020. The image focuses on a white and blue sign next to a trail. Green grasses and purple flowers grow under generally leafless shrubs in the foreground. In the background, under a bright blue sky, are a pair of hillsides with green and tan vegetation. Park visitors are encouraged to take their own photos from these monitoring sites. Such photos can be shared via upload and will be useful in documenting post-fire recovery in the park. This program is jointly managed by the National Park Service and the Point Reyes National Seashore Association and new photos are still being added at this time.
