The group is composed of five birds, two on the left looking right towards the middle of the group, and two on the right looking left in (anthropomorphically) judgmental poses, while the bird in the centre has its wings raised and is looking up in an (anthropomorphically) suppliant pose at one of the birds on the left which is apparently returning its gaze.

A Mangrove Gerygone perched, appositely, on a mangrove branch. It's a small bird, about 10cm long, with pale underbelly and soft brown above, with a striking red eye. Like most Little Brown Birds it hops around constantly, rarely sitting still for a portrait.
