Looking for advice on a #cloud / #selfhosting setup, especially with cost in mind.

Right now I’m weighing:
1) #pikapods (managed, simple, monthly fee, privacy?)
2) Self-hosted #nextcloud on a small home server (higher upfront cost, more control, more maintenance)

I’m curious about:
- Long-term costs
- reliability / backups
- time & maintenance overhead
- Privacy and data ownership (I'm in the Eu)

Are there other good options I should consider? VPS + Nextcloud? Hosted alternatives? Something lighter than Nextcloud?

Version 1.1.1 of the #cristal extension for @nextcloud is now released.
It contains an important fix that was making the extension unusable on Nextcloud 31 and 32.
