This less common/popular view of the iconic formation can be seen from Golden Canyon — the loop that includes Gower Gulch is one of the most popular hikes in Death Valley National Park, and for good reason: the landscape is just astonishing.

This path among beech trees creates an unexpected frame for art. Those exposed roots are a sculpture you can walk on — the roots of a fallen beech tree, cast in bronze and reintegrated into the path through the wood.

A dirt path curves slightly as it leads through a beech wood. The path is mottled with patches of sunlight and criss-crossed with exposed roots, some of which, if you look closely, have a subtle metallic patina.

One of the many partially hidden stairway passages in Seattle. This one on the way up from Golden Gardens to the Loyal Heights/Sunset Hill area.

A steep stairway of ~50 steps with dense greenery on each side and large trees at the top. A person in shadows begins to descend from the top. There are newer guardrails on each side of the stairs.

Slickrock Trail
Canyonlands National Park, UT

This is not the famous bike trail of the same name which is in Moab. This foot trail is in the Island in the Sky district of the national park.

The black crusty substance in the foreground is biological soil that is very fragile and valuable. If you see that anywhere do not step on or disturb it as it takes a very long time to recover.

A moderately wide trail through the woods, covered mainly in brown pine straw and surrounded by twigs and brush. A small handful of thick pine tree trunks can be seen on either side of the path and after that, a dense population of smaller, light-colored trunks. Trees in the distance still have green growth at their tops. The blue sky can be seen against the farthest tree tops.

The glow of sunrise has reached the granite peaks above but the wildflower strewn meadow below is still in shadow and wet with dew. The trail leads us through the flowers and onward to the heights.
