This is a black and white - mostly white, wildlife photo of a sleeping seal surrounded by snow and ice. Marguerite Bay, Antarctica (2024). The lower third of the image is filled with the snow and ice of a floating ice-floe with a gap in the middle. In this gap is the head of a Crabeater Seal (Lobodon Carcinophaga) lying on it's side and apparently sound asleep. The head is facing the camera and slightly upwards. The Seal is generally a white to very light grey in colour. The closed eyes, snout and whiskers are clearly visible, with only a hint of the left flipper in view. In the near background, perhaps a hundred metres away and stretching from the centre to the left of the photo is an area of snow covered rocks. Extending from the top right corner downwards towards the lower left corner is a steep mountain cliff face dusted with snow and partly obscured by light falling snow. The location is in Marguerite Bay.
