“Sunset at Étretat”

Surrounded by cliffs, the beach of Étretat is relatively sheltered from prevailing winds.

This is a popular place to watch the sun set over the horizon.

The beach is made up of pebbles. These pebbles are a natural bulwark, necessary to protect the coastline. In fact, they contribute to this protection by acting as a “wave damper”, in the same way as artificial stonework would.

“Pointe de la Courtine from the Manneporte cliff”

On the Pointe de la Courtine is the famous hole in the cliff named the Eye of the Panda which offers a very unusual and beautiful view of the large Tilleul beach.

Liberty Bridge, Budapest

“Window with Wrought Iron” — Wroght iron casts a shadow below a window in Casals de Loivos, Portugal.

I photographed this window on the morning we departed Casals de Loivos on the final day of our one-week walk in the hills and vineyards of Portugal’s Douro Valley region.
